Vettes in the Ville is located at Back to the Land Farm
in rural Louisville, Kentucky, and the only horses (hp) we have are these vettes.
The cars are a 1979-L82, 2003 convertible, and a 2004 Commemorative Edition Z06. The
79 and 03 are automatics. The 1979 is a unique year for C3 sharks in that
it had a base automatic rear end of 3.55 instead of the enery saving rear
ends of other years. Imagine - decent L-82 horsepower (225 hp) and an "off
the line" rear end.
The '79 also didn't have a computer, so power tuning was easy. Our '79
also had the Federal engine so there wasn't an AIR smog pump.
No wonder more Vettes were sold in '79 than any other year.
The downside of the '79 was a lower top end and
ugly gas mileage. The average gas mileage of our '79 is 10-12 mpg while
our C5s averages 23.5. Wow - now you know why the C3 sits in the garage
a lot more these days.
The 2003 convertible is Spiral Gray with Oak top and interior. 2003 was the 50th anniversary of the Corvette.
The 2004 Z06 is the Lemans Commemorative
Edition with 405 HP and 6 speed mamual transmission. The high-performance Z06 benefits from suspension tuning for 2004 based on
extensive testing at Germany's fabled Nurburgring racetrack and General Motors Milford Proving
Grounds. The goal was improved ride quality, but the revised Z06 suspension also feels more tied
down, more glued to the road. Sporting a C5-R Le Mans stripe, the Z06 Commemorative Edition has
a lightweight carbon fiber hood.
One of our other toys is a 1948 Ford 8N tractor, which is also
an every day driver, although the Kubota does take on more of the daily load.
We love the C5 performance, gas mileage, and
comfort - but, it is tough to beat the C3 looks. This page contains a
